Mother’s Day Observed with a Difference at Homerton Grammar School

Mother’s Day Observed with a Difference at Homerton Grammar School

“A mother strives to nurture and teach a child, she explicitly makes the world a much better place”. Homerton Grammar proudly observed Mother’s Day, a chance to celebrate the purest bond ever known to man, to honour the moms of our students and every other mother who has always been instrumental in bringing happiness and success to every member of her family.
Homerton Grammar conducted an eye-opening session on Mother’s Day with eminent guest speaker Ms. Kavita Thakur, Founder of Beyond Books and Co. and a certified soft skills and behavioural trainer. Principal of the school, Ms. Archana Dogra honoured the speaker with a sapling.
Miss Thakur addressed an important facet of nurturing and upbringing of a child – ‘The Good Touch and The Bad Touch’. She expressed that the foremost thing that every parent must teach a child is the understanding of his environment, the people he interacts with and his own safety when he is on his own. A mother’s prime concern is the safety of her child when he parts from her either while going to school or to the playground or elsewhere. This anxiety can be addressed only by educating children of the safety measures, of the understanding of the good touch and the bad touch.

A small workshop for the little children on developing an understanding of Bad Touch and a session on Self Defence was given. Children seemed glued to the session acquiring new learning and they were very interactive with the speaker.
The session was followed by a stimulating question and answer round where parents and the children enthusiastically interacted with Ms Kavita Thakur. This was an insightful programme where parents gave a positive feedback of how much they learnt and how much awareness could be spread about within the society about the importance of safety of the children when they are on their own.

Ms. Kavita Thakur was presented a Certificate of Appreciation as a token of gratitude for her enlightening session. The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Principal Ms. Archana Dogra.
